Eye Exams

Why are routine eye exams important?

Regular eye exams are an important part of preventive health care. During your exam, our doctors will not only determine your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses, but they will also examine your eyes for common eye diseases and evaluate your eyes to determine your overall heath. Many eye problems can develop without warning and progress without any symptoms. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial in preventing vision loss.

What is involved in a comprehensive eye exam?

The doctor will begin your complete eye exam by asking you about your medical history and any vision problems or changes you may be experiencing. A series of tests will be performed to evaluate your vision and check for eye diseases. Your doctor may dilate your eyes using drops to widen (dilate) your pupils to get a better view of the internal structures of your eye. We also conduct a series of tests to assess the ability of your eye muscles to make sure that both eyes are working as a team!
